Week 2....actually not even week 2 but a lot has happened

So. Since my last entry, I have been doing a lil bit of exploring, and have had ALOT more fun. Lets start with the exploring:

So I went and visited the pacific ocean....basically awesome. The coolest thing is that parts of the coastline are all rocks, and when the waves come in and move out you hear this sound of thousands of rocks shifting. It is amazing, and this week I'm probably gonna go ponder the beginning of mankind there, because it's basically the best place to think ever. On the coastline about 100 yards up on a cliff is this shopping center called Larcomar (see photo). It is like an open air mall (not like a strip mall though, and has a movie theater, bowling alley, and everything else your typical everyday bad-ass mall would have. It is sweet...fo sho.

From there I walked about 2 kilometers to this park called Parque Kennedy....yes like John F. From there i got on this tour bus called MiraBus. This is like a double decker bus that shows its passengers around on a 3.5 hour tour all through Lima. It was cool. Then, when we got back to the Parque Kennedy, I didn't know what to do, cause it was like 11:30. I figured i should just go home. Then I said f*** it, imma go to a club. (this is where the ALOT of fun part comes in).So I went and danced and drank(a shit ton....I cant remember how much, but I know the headache is a good indicator...), and didn't get back here until about 7 am. Overall an awesome night. Unfortunately they don't let you take cameras into clubs in Lima so I don't have any pics, but I can tell you the stories later (basically craziness).

Good drinks, good city, great times.

No tortillas :(

So not quite a full week, but whatever. I wasn't going to do this whole blogging thing, but I figure it's a good way to remember all the small things that happen. After a horrible time dealing with Aeromexico and my flights, etc., I finally arrived. The people I'm staying with are amazing and they have a nice house in one of the nicer districts in Lima. The lady's name is Marleny, a middle aged woman who rents her daughter's old rooms, because they are grown and now live in the States. So I will be living in their daughter's pink and orange room for the next 2 months. Sweet. Anyways, everything is going well. I haven't had the chance to try a lot of the food, but the one dish she prepared for me on Thursday (Causa?), was delicious. Only downfall is NO TORTILLAS......FAIL. But there is like an abundance of Chinese food restaurants. Like more Chinese food than Peruvian food. IT's kinda ridiculous.

I thought the people in Mexico stared at me a lot, but man was I wrong. People give me the weirdest looks every day. Kinda annoying. Also, people seem to think I'm going to rob them or like steal them because like if you ask someone what time it is, they will be like, "I don't know" and scamper away. (I say scamper because most of the people here are very short and little). I have met some friendly people though. Like 3. Haha. I think people are so sketchy about helping me because there is a lot of crime in this city so I can't really expect them to go out of their way to help a stranger.

I have been hanging out with some people, though, and that's easily the best part of being here. It is nice when people don't like stare at you like you are an exotic animal or something. I have hung out with like 6 different people since I've been here that I met on sharedtalk.com. That has been fun. I've also learned alot of slang like for example they like cut their words in half sometimes and then put the last part at the beginning. Kinda like pig Latin, but Peruvian style. for example: bathroom=baño but they will say ñoba. I amlike WTF. lol.

Weather here ranges from nice-ish to crappy. It is Winter here....
Today it is rainy and cold. It has been nice forlike one day, and they say it's not usually sunny. Sweet.

So far I prefer Mexico by FAR, and really miss tortillas, but know that being somewhere new means giving myself time to adjust and at least giving it a chance. Otherwise I may leave without having the great experience that I could otherwise have.
